How to Place Prolia Orders in Epic: A Step-by-Step Guide

Prolia- (denosumab -generic) given for Osteoporosis every six months at the Corewell/Beaumont infusion center - Frequently Farmington Hills or Troy. Corewell Will do the prior authorization if this order set is in the computer and Office note is faxed to them. Recent DEXA in 2-4 years, and CMP blood test in 6 months. 1. Accessing Infusion Orders

Navigate to the top tabs in Epic.
Locate and click on the "Infusion Orders" tab. (You may need to scroll down using the caret if it’s not immediately visible. in the infrequently used tabs)
If in infrequent tabs, pin the Infusion Orders tab for easier access in the future.

2. Selecting Primary Care

Once in Infusion Orders, go to the "Primary Care" section on the left side.

3. Setting Up the Order

Input the Drug:

Enter "Prolia" in the drug order section.

Determine the Start Date:

The start date matters if it's a continuation of Prolia-
The new order must be placed six months after the last order. If it's a brand new start, It doesn't matter the start date.
Example: If the last order was on October 4th, the new order should be set for April 10th (or April 6th as mentioned).

4. Choosing the Right Department

Specify the location where the patient receives treatment (e.g., Farmington Hills, Troy). BHFH INFUSION TROY or BHFH INFUSION Farmington?

5. Completing the Order

Fill in any required fields such as ICD 10: Diagnosis Code
After entering all necessary information, click "OK" to place the order.

6. Finalizing the Order

Ensure all prompts are checked. This included labs work and all of the traditional protocol items.
Click "Sign" to finalize the encounter.

7. IMPORTANT - Faxing Required Documentation

Fax the note to the Beaumont Prior Authorization Department.
Office note says she has been on Prolia for X number of years. Doing well without side effects. DEXA are stable.
Ensure that the following documents are included:

A bone density test within the last 2-4 years.
A CMP (Comprehensive Metabolic Panel) within the last 6 months.
