A message from Dr. Caroline Beall, DO
We opened a practice in Southfield specializing in osteopathic manipulation and treating chronic pain. My mission is to help patients reclaim a life of wellness, free from the constraints of pain, by using evidence-based osteopathic, integrative and biopsychosocial principles.
Using a hands-on approach, we diagnose and treat the underlying cause of your pain, improve your mobility, and promote your overall well-being.

Over 80% of chronic pain is due to neural pathways misfiring, not due to structural causes. Medications and other therapies aimed at the body can help patients manage pain, but are not effective at treating the pain. I use pain reprocessing therapy to treat the cause of the pain (misfiring neural pathways in the brain). The treatment rewires these pathways to fire appropriately by using a system of psychological techniques. Examples include emotional processing, neutralizing the physical pain through somatic techniques, and visualizations to eliminate pain with activity.

NEW: We have recently branched out to work with athletes, and I have 2 very skilled sports dietitians on my staff who offer a sport and performance nutrition package. What sets them apart from general sports nutritionists, is their keen knowledge of eating disorders - since we know that athletes have a much higher predisposition to the development of an eating disorder or body image disturbance.
Tired of thinking about food all the time?
Are you ready to be done thinking about food 24/7, but worried about how a new way might impact your health and everyday life? We get it.

We are referring you to the Niyama Center, which specializes in EMDR therapy for trauma and PTSD. They have offices in the Metro Detroit area, including locations in Birmingham and Southfield, and are highly regarded for this evidence-based treatment approach.
What Is EMDR?
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is a structured, scientifically supported therapy designed to help the brain heal from traumatic experiences.
When something distressing happens, the brain can sometimes become "stuck," causing memories to remain connected to the fear, anxiety, and emotions experienced at the time of the event.
During EMDR therapy:
You focus briefly on a difficult memory.
Your therapist guides your eyes in a side-to-side movement or uses alternating tapping.
This process is called bilateral stimulation.
Bilateral stimulation engages both sides of the brain.
As the brain processes the memory, it becomes less emotionally overwhelming and easier to manage.
Many people find that EMDR helps reduce the emotional impact of traumatic memories and supports long-term healing and recovery.
